Cargo / goods in transit

Cargo / goods-in-transit insurance covers the goods themselves at their real value, independently of the legal caps that limit the carrier's contractual liability.

It complements contractual liability: where the latter is capped by law, cargo cover indemnifies the real value of goods in case of loss, theft, damage or destruction, from pickup to final delivery. It is especially relevant for high-value goods or shippers who require full cover in their specifications.

This insurance can be taken out by the carrier or directly by the shipper/consignor, depending on the commercial contract. Clarifying who holds the cover avoids grey areas when a claim arises.

McLer checks for each client whether the risk is already covered elsewhere in the logistics chain, avoiding duplicate premiums while closing real coverage gaps.
